Imagine what a little iron ore can become.

How often do you think about all the iron ore you have in your life? Probably not very often. But if you look around you'll notice that there is iron everywhere. The pots in the kitchen. The bike rack. The door handle. The lamppost over there. Maybe you even have jeans with a fly. Or keys jingling in your pocket. Every day we mine about 135,000 tons of ore in our mines. Not so anyone will think about it. But so that we can have all those little things in life. Without thinking of it.

A life full of iron.

Iron ore is there in the devices we love, the staples we simply must have, and the things that make our everyday world turn. For over 130 years, we've been part of building our country. Not just through bridges, houses, and railroads, but also through all the small and big things we have around us. And even if we don't make all that stuff, we mine the ore that makes it possible.

It all starts here. In the north.

Here are some of the world's leading iron ore deposits that have built our country and been an important part of our lives for over a hundred years. A mine always has an impact – on nature, society and the lives of everyone who lives and works here. That's why we take responsibility for it in the best way we can. This includes strict environmental standards, world-leading working conditions and respect for the people in our local communities.

Now new big things need to happen.

Just as iron built the society we live in today, what we do now shapes tomorrow. We are facing our biggest challenge yet: to ensure that Sweden and Europe have what it takes to change. So that we can live the life we want and need both now and for the future.

135 thousand tonnes

Every day we mine 135,000 tonnes of iron ore, which is turned into kickbikes, lampposts, pots, keys, door handles, basketball hoops and a lot of things we have in our lives.

80 percent

We produce the most iron ore in all of Europe. In fact, more than 80 percent of all iron ore in the EU comes from us. It is all mined in Norrbotten and travels to the world via the ports of Narvik and Luleå.

1.5 billion SEK

We are fully owned by the Swedish state and distribute a large portion of our profits every year – most recently SEK 1.5 billion for 2024.
