Here are some common questions and answers about summer jobs at LKAB – about the jobs available, how to apply, and what requirements you need to meet.
About the application
- On the summer jobs page you’ll find information about and links to available summer jobs. You can also find them via Available jobs – LKAB.
- We accept your application via LKAB.com. In each job ad there’s an “apply now” option. Please note that we do not accept applications by email or phone.
- Each job ad states what your application should contain. Read carefully and attach the requested documents in you application.
- Email your addition to rekrytering@lkab.com. Remember to state which application it concerns.
- In addition to the basic requirements (you have turned 18 and have a driver’s license), we look at things such as when you are available to start your summer job, that you can work all summer and that you have some idea of where to stay during your summer with us. Since previous experience from similar jobs is a merit, we prioritise those applications.
- We review the applications continuously from the date we publish the advertisement. We send continuous feedback and will notify you if you do not meet all of our requirements. Because we need many temporary workers in many different workplaces, recruitment will in some cases continue right up until May.
- If we decide to proceed with your application, you will be contacted by phone. We’ll call you from a 010 number. When you have gone through our recruitment process, you will receive feedback from the hiring manager.
Requirements
- You must be 18 years of age and you must have a driving license B for manual transmission. Most jobs require good knowledge of Swedish.
- Yes, you must be available for work all summer.
- It depends on the job. For most summer jobs, no specific education is required, but for some jobs, for example in maintenance, electricity or construction, some experience or education is needed.
- No, that is not necessary. However, we primarily proceed with candidates who have worked with similar things. Because we have many different jobs and need many temporary workers, you stand a good chance to advance even if you have no previous experience.
About the jobs
- All jobs start on different dates, it is important that you can match our working periods. Depending on which dates you can start work, different jobs are suitable for you. It is also important to consider which location you are interested in working in. We have summer jobs in Kiruna, Svappavaara, Gällivare and Luleå. A third thing to consider is what kind of environment you want to work in. We have jobs outdoors, in workshops, in processing plants and underground. You need to be comfortable with the place where the work is performed.
- As a temporary worker, you work full-time. All jobs have different shifts that include mornings, afternoons and nights. In your application, you can indicate which form of shift you prefer.
- All jobs have different salaries and you will learn what the salary is for the job you are applying for.
- As a temporary worker, it is important that you are available throughout the summer. Most jobs have either weekends off or weeks off and we’d love for you to schedule any travel on your days off.
- Yes, we make sure you get an introduction to the job and a chance to learn everything you need to know. We want you to feel safe and prepared before you start work.
- That is difficult to say, in some cases there is a continued need for staff during the fall, but it depends on how the need looks at the particular workplace.
