From international meetings to trail running – Meet Michael Lindman

February 2, 2026

With almost 20 years with us, Michael Lindman has seen the business from many angles. In this interview, he talks about his role today, meeting with customers, and why running and spending time in nature are a natural part of his free time.

Hi Michael! What do you do and how long have you been at LKAB?

I am currently responsible for the sale of iron ore within LKAB Minerals to the Offshore industry and to LKAB’s oldest customer Höganäs. In May I will have been at LKAB for 20 years and I started my journey as a logistician and worked a lot with ship planning and chartering and was responsible for overall logistics issues within the Minerals group.

What is the most interesting thing you are working on right now?

It’s always interesting to be out there and physically meet our customers and work with them to develop sustainable business solutions. I am currently working on a number of different offshore projects in Europe regarding Carbon Capture and gas pipelines on the seabed for CO2 transport.

What about running in the mine? What do you think that would be like?

I was down at 1365 as recently as last week and said to a colleague at the time that it would have been fun to run all the way up the mine. It is definitely on my bucket list when it comes to running and would be a memory for life.

What would be the most challenging thing about running the entire Luleå–Narvik route: the distance, the terrain – or not being able to log it on Strava?

Running Luleå-Narvik is a “small” challenge in terms of distance haha. Could I skip the Luleå-Kiruna route and just run from Kiruna to Narvik? Such fantastic views along the way and the biggest challenge would probably be the memory capacity on my phone with all the pictures I would take.

What do you like to do on your free time?

I spend as much of my free time as possible out in the forest and nature and preferably running. Running for me is not primarily training but more of a feeling I chase. There will also be a lot of time with the family in our cottage in the archipelago.

How does it feel to have more followers on your account than on LKAB’s?

My Instagram account has become a fun hobby where I can combine and find an outlet for my interests in running, photography and with a lot of focus on the mental aspects and benefits of running and training. I like to spice it up with dad humor to the great delight of my family.

It has grown over the years and for four years I have also had a cooperation agreement with Swedemount, which sponsors all the clothes I need for my leisure activities. It’s kind of fun that they have the Öberg sisters, the biathlon national team – and me, as ambassadors.
