Shaping the future
At LKAB, we are leading the transformation of our industry toward a sustainable future. Just as we aim to reshape the world, we are committed to developing every individual on our team, both personally and professionally. Are you ready to help shape the future of the mining and mineral industry?
Your role
As a Planning Engineer, you will be a key contributor in ensuring efficient, safe, and long-term sustainable mine production. You will work with both short- and long-term planning and, together with the team, develop plans and documentation that guide the mine’s development and production. In this role, you will have a strong influence on future production solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning mine operations and development in Deswik
- Updating documentation for PERC reporting
- Acting as a subject matter expert in investigations, projects, and production-related matters
- Collaborating with development, production and other key functions
- Driving and developing work methods, processes and planning procedures
You will independently plan your days and weeks based on task requirements and will have significant influence over both work methods and outcomes. The role primarily involves collaboration with internal stakeholders, but also with consultants, suppliers and external partners. Staying up to date with industry developments is a natural part of the job, as the sector evolves rapidly and new approaches continuously emerge.
You will join a planning team that drives the mine’s long-term development and supports the organization in projects and investigations. The group is characterized by strong teamwork, high competence, and a shared ambition to develop the production of the future. Here, you will have the opportunity to make an impact and grow together with committed colleagues.
What you bring
We are looking for someone who combines technical interest with a strong sense of responsibility and strong collaboration skills. You are structured, solution-oriented, and possess analytical abilities that enable you to thrive in a role where planning, problem-solving, and business communication go hand in hand.
You communicate clearly, work without prestige, and easily build trusting relationships both within the team and across other functions in the mine.
To succeed in the role, you need:
- Post‑secondary education, preferably as an engineer
- Category B driving license
It’s a plus if you have:
- Experience in mine planning
- Experience from iron ore or underground mining
- Knowledge of Deswik
- Experience with PERC reporting
- Basic knowledge of Swedish and English, or a willingness to develop these skills
We welcome both early‑career applicants and those with several years of experience.
What we offer
In addition to the general benefits we offer — which you can find a bit further down — we can also offer you, who currently do not live in Sweden, the following:
- Relocation support for you and your family.
- Excellent conditions for settling in. We guide you through the official procedures necessary to settle in the country if you come from outside Sweden. We also provide temporary accommodation for a reasonable period and help you find a permanent place to live according to your personal needs.
- LKAB helps you learn Swedish, a tool for a better understanding of Swedish culture.
- The Swedish vacation law entitles all employees to five weeks of vacation per year, and four consecutive weeks during June, July, or August. Your contract may include extra vacation days.
