LKAB is stepping in as sponsor of the 2027 World Ski Championships in Falun. The partnership is part of our long-term commitment to sports, culture, and events aimed at strengthening the brand.

LKAB sponsors a wide range of associations, initiatives, and events that contribute to vibrant, attractive communities in Norrbotten and Narvik.

However, we also provide support in other contexts, nationally and internationally, to raise awareness of LKAB, highlight our importance to Sweden and Europe, and build positive associations to our brand. Falun 2027 is one such context: a major Swedish event that unites people through sport and generates strong engagement.

“We value being an official partner and contributing to a public celebration that showcases a world-class winter sports event. Winter sports are close to our hearts, and we are delighted to support the development of Swedish cross-country skiing,” says Johan Menckel, President and CEO of LKAB.

LKAB has a long tradition of involvement in Swedish sports. We were also a partner when the World Ski Championships were last held in Sweden, in Falun 2015.

“We are thrilled to welcome LKAB back to the World Championship family, now as an official partner. This partnership means a great deal to us. Together, we are laying the foundation for a World Championship that leaves a lasting impression—long after the final gold medal has been awarded,” says Patrik Blomquist, Commercial Director for Falun 2027.

The World Ski Championships in Falun will take place from February 24 to March 7, 2027.
