Launch of LKAB’s Supplier Handbook 2025 – new requirements for safer and more efficient production
Version 2.3 of LKAB’s Supplier Handbook is now released, supporting the creation of safe, sustainable, and efficient workplaces together with our suppliers.
The Supplier Handbook is a governing document and a guide for work within LKAB’s industrial areas in Kiruna, Svappavaara, Malmberget, and Luleå Ore Harbour. It contains requirements and guidelines covering areas such as work environment, environment, vehicular traffic, security, and safety.
New requirements and updated guidelines
Each year, the handbook is reviewed, and version 2.3 includes several new and updated topics compared to the 2024 edition. It is therefore recommended to read through the new version and discuss the updates at your workplace.
Major changes for this year include:

Non-compliance with requirements:
A sanction system clarifies the consequences of breaches of rules. For more information, contact your purchaser. -
Work inside or alongside railway areas:
Clarification of rules for work near railway tracks, including permits and protective measures. -
Evacuation during blasting in open pits, Svappavaara:
Procedures for evacuation during blasting operations, with a focus on roles and communication.
Minor language adjustments have been made in the following sections:
- Information security and cybersecurity
- Safe and healthy workplaces
- Alcohol and drugs
- Traffic offences
- Raising alarms
- Chemical products
- Vehicle requirements
- Denial or withdrawal of access
