Drilling machines at the Per Geijer deposit vandalized
On Friday afternoon, August 30, it was discovered that four drilling machines investigating the Per Geijer deposit in Kiruna had been vandalized. The incidents have been reported to the police.
The machines are located in the forest and are used for exploration drilling at the site where LKAB found iron ore and critical minerals. Someone has cut water hoses and tires, and emptied fuel cans. This has happened while personnel from the contractor company were inside the drilling machines.
LKAB has reported the incidents to the police and strengthened protection at the sites. The Swedish Security Service has also been contacted. If the public has made or in the future makes any observations that can be linked to the vandalism, contact the police.
