Mine design engineer/technician for the Kiruna Mine
About the position
The Kiruna Mine Planning department is now looking for our next Mine designer for our journey towards the mine of the future.
As a part of us, you’ll work in close collaboration with our mine planners, engineers and technicians in an international workplace athmospehere.
As our Mine Designer you primarily create designs for production drilling according to the mining model(geometry), fragmentation etc using Deswik.
IN addition you hold meetings with production drilling teams to decide the placement of drill rigs and have a continous dialoque about possible issues related to drilling.
Part of your responsibility is to report the monthly numbers for drilled meters and deliver the planned drill meters 3 times/year (forecast) and on annual basis (budget).
You are also a part of other projects related to improvement of the drill and blast technique.
You will be based and work in wondrous Kiruna, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle. The area offers great opportunities for fantastic outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, ice climbing, etc.
Skills & Competencies

You have a good knowledge of the mining method( SLC) and understanding of the mining cycle. Good knowledge/experience in the application of CAD systems (preferably Deswik) and Microsoft office is essential.
Understanding of engineering, geology, rock mechanics, blasting technique is heavily meritorious.
You speak and write English fluently. It´s a plus if you speak and write Swedish, but if not, we want you to be eager to learn.
A Driving license is a requirement for this position.
Any form of higher educational level is a merit but not mandatory for this opening as we can apply the role of technician, vocational engineer aswell as all levels of university degree based engineers.
