With a bachelor's degree in mining engineering and several years of experience from underground coal and gold mining in Turkey, Yunus decided to take the opportunity to be part of LKAB's journey towards a new world standard for mining.
Yunus, who was appointed Senior Mining Planning Engineer in 2024, has a leading role in several projects aimed at increasing both the efficiency and safety of LKAB’s underground mining process. One of his areas of responsibility is designing drill bits and ensuring the quality and safety of the production drilling and blasting processes. Increasing the level of automation is a central part of most of his projects. For example, his design drawings are now digitally transferred directly to automated drilling rigs. This leads to much more precise placement of the volley, which saves time and overall provides a more efficient and safe process.
